>> Bio

Eevi Rutanen (b. 1992, Espoo, Finland) examines the relationship between gender and technology through works that challenge traditional scientific paradigms. Drawing on her background in engineering, she blends technical expertise with playful absurdity and frivolity. Her interactive installations invite viewers to question the rigidity of ”hard tech” and imagine softer, more inclusive futures. Through these works, Eevi embraces the complexities of human experience—sensuality, sentimentality, and fallibility—creating space for vulnerability and connection in a world dominated by mechanised systems and cold logic.

Eevi completed her Master of Fine Arts in Computational Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2019. She currently teaches Creative Computation at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, and also frequents as a visiting lecturer at other institutions. As a teacher, she is dedicated to empowering students through coding and electronics, as well as making STEM fields more approachable and diverse.
